Fouquet

Additional Info

  • Article:

Born in 1862, Georges Fouquet took over the jewellery business of his father Alphonse Fouquet in 1895, birth year of the "Art Nouveau" style. His collaboration with painter and designer Alphonse Mucha triumphed at the Paris "Exposition Universelle" in 1900.

Always looking for impressive light effects, he has often used opals and "plique-à-jour" enamel in his jewellery, as well as aquamarine, which was his predilection stone. His daring and innovative ideas will be followed by many and are still considered as the best heritage of the "Art Nouveau" style.

Joined by his son Jean in 1919, he will then follow a new direction with the Art Deco style, using geometrical and refined forms.
