Additional Info

  • Article:

Founded in 1906 in Paris by Alfred Van Cleef, Charles and Julien Arpels, all originating from Amsterdam, Van Cleef & Arpels was soon to become one of the most famous jewellery company in the world. Joined in 1912 par Louis Arpels, they developed very stylish collections, representative of French elegance, cherishing the theme of Nature, particularly the flowers, and using the best expertise for the production of their jewels. Exploring Egyptian, Chinese, Japanese or Oriental style, their jewels were treasured by famous actresses that made their reputation worldwide.

Creator in 1932 of the "Minaudière", small evening beauty case made with gold and precious stones, their fame grew with the creation in 1933 of the "Mystery setting", a spectacular technical invention that would allow stones to be set on rails, with no setting metal visible.

Through the years, they have had regular clients like Marlène Dietrich, the Duchess of Windsor, Maria Callas, Elisabeth Taylor or Grace Kelly and are, still today, an eternal symbol of elegance.
