Exclusive set composed of a pair of earrings and a pendant-brooch in 18 cts. yellow gold and shell cameos. Very fine execution with tones and half tones well defined and an overall well managed sense of movement. French assay mark for gold and for master goldsmith “BI” (unidentified).
Overall in good condition. A smaller loss on the acanthus leave at the bottom of one earring.
Of neoclassical inspiration, the cameos depict on the earrings two bacchantes with two masks; one of a satyr and the other of Bacchus. On the oval pendant, a cherub holding the flame of love with in background a profile of a couple dating the Hellenic time. This representation has been inspired by famous Cammeo di Gonzaga, conserved at the Hermitage, St. Petersburg and represents Alexander the Great and Olympias.
The mounting is made with geometrical lines in manner of arabesques with acanthus leafs closing the composition.
The high level of execution and the completeness of the set with the original box, make this parure a very attractive item for collector.
