  • Commentary:

This pair of earrings is a typical example of Louis-Philippe jewellery style.
After the long years of war in Europe the scarcity of diamonds led to the use of a large number of semi-precious stones during 1830s. The general interest for coloured gemstones can be here noticed in the jeweller's choice of a very original and totally unconventional fancy facing cut.
Mounting is very typical of that epoch too and perfectly suit the gemstones outline. It is delicately made with repoussé gold and with a superb finishing, making those ornaments very light.
We remark the outstanding perfect condition of our ear-igs which include no restorations, the original fittings, and French Levrier assay mark repeated 10 times on each single part of gold, as ruled in France in a very precisely way.
The fashion of that epouch with bare shoulders and the hair piled at the top of the head, favoured earrings of fairly large size.
The beautiful design, good quality and perfect condition will certainly produce a very decorative effect on the wearer of those earrings.
