
Salvador Dali (1904- 1989), the Spanish surrealist painter, designed articles of jewelry, in watercolour sketches. between 1953 and 1969,. The largest collection of such jewelry, including pieces for ordinary wear but also some large sculptural pieces with moving parts operated by a tiny electric motor, has been owned by the Owen Cheatham Foundation, New York City; 37 of these pieces were sold in january 1981 to a group associated with the Terrot Moore Museum, at Cadaques Spain, which 15 reported to plan a world-wide exhibition tour.
